Hello, I’m Kelly- author and creator of Plant Based & Practical. I’m a wife and mom who hasn’t quit my day job just yet; but my true passion lies in food and fitness. When my husband and I cut meat and dairy out of our diets 6 years ago, I wasn’t sure what we were going to eat! Fortunately, there’s this thing called the internet out there and I quickly learned how to build our meals around vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds, beans/legumes, and whole grains. It didn’t take very long before we weren’t missing the meat and cheese that used to make up much of our plates. Now, we would never choose to go back to eating the way that we used to because our food has so much more flavor, color, and texture than it ever did before.
Living in the Midwest, where the two most popular snack foods happen to be meat and cheese, so some people are a bit weirded out by the way that we eat, but many people are simply curious and so I started taking pictures of our food and connecting with other plant-strong individuals and families. The whole foods, plant-based community is so welcoming and encouraging; I’m very glad to be a part of it. Even though there is always more to learn, I finally feel like it’s my time to give back and share what I’ve learned so far.
